Classic Dragons 2025 Youth Indigenous Jersey

Inspired by the artwork Our Community, Our Land, Our Story by proud Dharug artist and Shell Cove resident Kane Wright, the Classic Dragons 2025 Indigenous jersey narrates the profound story of the Dharawal community, celebrating its six seasons and the wisdom of our elders who guide the land, sea and sky.

At the heart of the jersey are six meeting places, each representing one of the six Dharawal seasons. Accompanying each meeting place is an animal that embodies the spirit of its respective season, creating a vibrant connection between mother land and father sky.

The story unfolds in a dual manner, with three meeting places honouring the roles of women as gatherers and nurturers, cultural educators, and healers and spiritual leaders. Another three meeting places capture the contributions of men as hunters and providers, warriors and protectors, and storytellers and knowledge keepers. The balance of the six meeting places combined reflects the integral roles men and women play in sustaining and nurturing the community.

Handprints placed on the back of the jersey symbolise the guiding presence of our ancestors, reinforcing the deep connections we share with the land, sea and sky.

Waterways are woven into the design, representing the beautiful rives and streams that flow through the Dharawal region, connecting us to he life-giving essence of water.

Footprints further signify the enduring legacy of our elders and their commitment to nurturing our communities to ensure the continuity of traditions and culture for future generations.

All elements combined, the 2025 Indigenous creates a powerful story of connection, culture and resilience within our communities.
